Auckland Grade Age 20+
Auckland’s adult grades play on Sundays, all on a full 60/90 adult diamond — 60ft 6in pitching distance, 90ft base paths, the same dimensions used in college and professional baseball. These grades differentiate based on playing ability and expectations, so there’s a genuine home here whether it’s your first season or you’ve played at a serious competitive level overseas.
Premier League
Premier League is the pinnacle of Auckland Baseball. Many players in this grade have US college experience, or are former pro/semi-pro level players. It’s a highly competitive grade that also attracts import players — full 9-inning games, wood bats only. Some of Auckland’s own Premier players came up through ABA’s junior pathway and went on to Division 1 college baseball in the US and beyond.
Reserves
Reserves is linked to Premier League as the feeder division into Premier. Clubs use this grade to seed young or fringe players on a path to Premier, or to give extra playing time to their Premier players. 7-inning games, wood bats only.
Divisional 1/2
Divisional 1/2 is the competitive option for recreational baseball for adults on a Sunday — genuine baseball ability expected, while still being something to do for fun on a weekend.
Divisional 3
Divisional 3 is the fully recreational option for adults on a Sunday. No prior experience is expected — it’s a fun way to learn a new skill, meet a bunch of potential new friends on the field, and get active.
Divisional W
Divisional W is Auckland’s women’s recreational baseball league, with the same relaxed expectations as Divisional 3.
One firm rule across every Divisional grade: no player under Auckland grade age 17 can play Divisional baseball, with no exceptions. Premier League and Reserves don’t carry the same hard floor — genuinely exceptional younger players can play there with their club’s backing, since these are supervised, competitive grades rather than casual social ones.
