Little League Age 4–8
From age 4 up to age 8, Auckland Baseball keeps things flexible and fun — players take part in their club’s own in-house baseball, in the form of tee-ball and coach-pitch. It’s a genuinely relaxed, low-pressure way to fall in love with the game before Auckland-wide competition begins.
Where should they play?
In-house club baseball is where every player at this age should start — tee-ball or coach-pitch, whichever your club offers and feels like the right fit for your player. ABA deliberately leaves this call to individual clubs, since they know their own players best.
Ready for more?
From league age 7, a player and their club may feel they’re ready to also join Auckland-wide 10U competition. This isn’t an option for players younger than 7 — 10U’s own age floor starts there — but for most 7 and 8 year olds too, in-house baseball still remains the better fit. 10U also has some built-in flexibility of its own — coaches and umpires can move the pitching rubber closer for players still developing control.
